Gretchen Schoenstein

Coach and Facilitator

Stay curious. There is a wonder in curiosity, an openness to possibility. That’s a cornerstone for Gretchen’s life that’s led her to be a coach and facilitator at Allegory.  (No cats were harmed in Gretchen’s pursuit of curiosity.)

From a diverse background of working in the hospitality industry, to sports broadcasting and spring-boarding into environmental work, politics, and women’s leadership training, Gretchen’s continued curiosity has brought further opportunity to create and build upon relationships with a broad network of people.

She is passionate about supporting others to find their authentic voice, step into leadership, and navigate various stages of transition. In addition, Gretchen works with for-purpose organizations on everything from fundraising strategy to board development. Gretchen served as the founding Executive Director of Emerge California for seven years and is a co-founding Board Member of Emerge America. She holds a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Sociology from the University of Washington.

In her spare time, Gretchen is an avid runner, writer and speaker, having completed 38 (and counting) half marathons all over the U.S. in the last five years, each one a unique story of physical training and emotional perseverance. Through all this, she brings with her expertise in life balance, resilience, and self-empowerment — as well as a whole bunch of finish line moments.

“Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.”
– William Arthur Ward
